Ozmotion – digital mechanics
July 7, 2007 – Announcement: internal systems outage (Resolution)
Affected systems: Client portal disabled / Billing system disabled
Status: Resolution complete. New server configuration underway
Schedule: Expected to be completed on or before July 16, 2007
Dear Ozmotion clients,
We have finalized a solution to the issues addressed within the initial
announcement sent July 4, 2007.
Due to diminishing service and support from our previous Datacenter vendor
located in California, USA, where the Ozmotion server is currently housed,
we have decided to procure a Dedicated Server Rack located at the SoftLayer
Datacenter in Texas, USA. The quality of service and support we have
received from SoftLayer is second to none.
Datacenter overview: The SoftLayer datacenter is a Tier IV datacenter
facility located inside the well known INFOMART telecom hotel near downtown
Dallas. Specializing in datacenter and hosting facilities, INFOMART is home
to multiple datacenters including MCI, Level 3, Equinix, Verio, Switch &
Data, Verizon, DataSides, and more. The building sits atop three redundant
electrical grids from TXU delivering diverse power to each quadrant of the
building. HVAC needs are supplied via five one hundred ton onsite water
chillers to deliver N+1 cooling requirements. Home to over twelve switch
sites and thirty-five different carriers, INFOMART houses technology and
telecom related businesses in a complex communications ecosystem.

Apart from being very happy with our decision to have our own dedicated
server rack we also expect to see a noticeable difference in latency as
it relates to the speed in which Ozmotion hosted websites are delivered
around the globe. US based clients will notice the biggest change in latency
followed by Australasian customers and finally our Asian based customers
should also notice a slight increase in speed.
How does this change affect my website? You ask!
Over the coming weeks we will be migrating all client websites to the new
server. You will be notified individually 48 hours before the migration of
your website/s will commence with an estimate on time. Once the migration is
underway we do not expect any more than 1 hour of downtime per client. Most
likely this window of time will be a lot less.
In an effort to avoid any interruption to your everyday reliance on your
website and email accounts we will migrate your data at a time outside of
office hours. Most migrations will take place after midnight, your local
time.
If you wish to instruct us as to when you would like the migration to take place,
please contact us as soon as possible to arrange a suitable time frame.
Soon after your site and associated files have been migrated you will
receive a NEW welcome email with NEW account details. This is due to the
implementation of an all new client portal which will allow you to manage
all aspects of your domain and website directly from your desktop. We have
also revamped our webmail system which we are sure you will enjoy and find
very useful.
Is there anything I need to do as a domain owner? You ask!
Yes, depending on your type of hosting account there are a few proactive measures
we ask that you take to avoid any loss of data during the migration period.
NOTE: If you use Ozmotion’s web hosting services only and rely on your own
email exchange (e.g. Windows Exchange Server) please discard point first below.
NOTE: If we, Ozmotion, currently manage your website for you, please discard
the second point below.
1. For all clients who use the Ozmotion email server please back up any and
all important email messages (particularly if you use IMAP) to a local
source. i.e. your desktop, CD, external HD, external flash card etc. This also
includes all webmail if different to your desktop application data.
2. If you or a 3rd party manage your website, please make certain you make a
backup copy of all website data including but not limited to: database
information, all files and directories associated with the website/s and any
applications you may have uploaded to your website.
NOTE: ALL PASSWORDS FOR ALL ACCOUNTS AND SERVICES WILL BE RESET.
Temporary passwords will be re-issued within your new account details email
Disclaimer: Once the migration has commenced and completed, Ozmotion will take
no responsibility for lost or damaged data including email messages.
If you require further information or do not understand how this relates to
you as a client of Ozmotion, please do not hesitate to contact us
immediately. support@ozmotion.com
Once again thank you for your continued support and we hope these changes
will benefit everyone involved.
Sincerely,
Ozmotion :: digital mechanics
